Basin Highlights
Clean Energy Win?
While it makes sense for those in the Permian to be happy that competition from Canada has now been limited, they may have an entirely different competitor. The Eagle Ford basin does not receive nearly as much attention and love as the Permian, but it does produce oil that emits far less greenhouse gasses. A study by the Oil-Climate Index in 2016 shows that the Eagle Ford and Bakken shales have some of the lowest emissions per barrel globally. This means that from a purely environmental standpoint, the Eagle Ford will likely win favor from the federal government should Biden choose to curb domestic oil production. Not much going on in the Eagle Ford, but future potential is exciting.
