Field Overview
Ranking 6th in oil production and 3rd in natural gas production, the SCOOP/STACK play is one of the largest fields within the continental United States. It is primarily a shale play, with the Anadarko and Ardmore basins providing a bulk of the production. Some of the top formations are the Woodford Shale and Hunton Carbonate.

Basin Highlights
Oil Spill in Southern Oklahoma
Crews in Southern Oklahoma are cleaning up after an oil spill in Foster. Ovintiv representatives told News 12 that the leak was discovered near the Hunter Central Tank Battery on East County Road 1650 in Stephens County. An emergency response team was quickly deployed, and they were able to quickly bring the spill under control. The source of the leak is still being investigated.
Oil and Gas Disposal Well Under Investigation as Earthquakes Shake Southeast Oklahoma
The strongest of a series of earthquakes that have shaken eastern Oklahoma this month drew the attention of many residents in Quinton. The unusual activity, which scientists have linked to injected saltwater produced as part of the recovery of oil and gas in other locations, prompted the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s induced seismicity department to order the owner of a nearby well to suspend operations on Aug. 16. Waterbridge Arkoma Operating owns the well site, which is known as Strait 1 SWD. The Strait 1 SWD was granted permission to inject salt water into the geological formations of Simpson, Tulip Creek, McLish, Wilcox, and Oil Creek.
