EPA withdraws Trump Oklahoma Environment Order after Input from Tribes
On Dec. 22 of 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency revisited a decision made by the Trump administration concerning jurisdiction over environmental issues in Oklahoma. The current situation allows the state to make decisions concerning oil and gas ventures on tribal land, the EPA is looking to hand the authority for such decisions back to tribal leaders. The republican Oklahoma government fears losing regulatory control over the extraction of natural resources in the area.
